Community Splash

Southern Swimming Pool is proud to announce the renewal and expansion of Community Splash, an initiative offering free swimming for children. This programme is made possible through the support of the Southern Authorities Healthcare Trust (Charity No. 337).

Like last year, eligible children attend Arbory, Ballasalla, Rushen, Scoill Phurt Le Moirrey, Victoria Road, Kewaigue, and The Buchan primary schools. Community Splash is available to pupils in Reception through to Year 3. The expansion sees Community Splash offer free swimming to any child between zero and four years of age.

Children under eight must be accompanied in the water by an adult aged 16 or over. School-aged children will receive a free-pass card to display on entry; the initiative eases financial pressure on families while encouraging children to gain confidence and enjoy the water.

Community Splash will run from 25th September 2026 until 31st August 2027. The programme has been renewed after a successful first year, which saw a 42% increase in admissions for children 8 years and under, and an associated increase of 17% in adult admissions. Proving a demand for cheaper access to sports and activities for families.

The Southern Swimming Pool Board extends their sincere thanks to the Southern Authorities Healthcare Trust for making this initiative possible.

The take up has been encouraging and through this initiative more children are learning to swim and having fun at the same time.  This shows that we need and must retain a swimming pool in the South. The Board is grateful to the Southern Authorities Healthcare Trust for their support.”
